The apiary is located at the foothills of Mount Douglas Park (Pkols), the largest urban forest on the Saanich Peninsula, with a biodiverse ecosystem rich in wildflower meadows, native Arbutus trees (Pacific madrone), Garry oak, Cedar and Douglas fir trees.
The bees have access to local backyards and gardens as well as the many small farms using agro ecology methods where most of local fruits and vegetables grow.
